We all have a wild, ridiculous dream somewhere. The one that bubbles to the surface when we least expect. Floating around in our heads like a mystic cloud. It is a dream so large, so magical and wonderous that we push it aside with sighs and thoughts of impossibility.
But the truth is, you conceived it and for that very reason it deserves to be there! Imagine for a moment that it could become a reality. That your wild, colourful dream could take form exactly the way you envision it and that dreams really could come true!
Life gets in the way of dreams. All. The. Time.
There is always something else in need of attention first, a task more important, a more rational thing to do with the little resources or money you have at the time and in the end, all you are doing is getting by from day to day, not making memories in a way only wild dreams can – and nothing happens to unveil the magic of life. Maybe today is the day to remind yourself that life is about more than just getting by. To dream big and believe that dreams are meant to be real! What is there to lose? If it does not work out at least you gave it a shot, and you played an active role in chasing your dream, which is a 100% improvement from where you are now. And if it does not work out, well then there is freed up space for dreaming new dreams…
If that which makes your heart race remain in your head, shrouded in fluffiness and wishful thinking it can become trapped in a self-imposed cage chained only to your imagination and what is the good in that? I know that talk can be cheap but wasted dreams are worse – and if you start today, by taking small tangible steps forward, who knows where you can be in a year’s time? Here are some thoughts on where to start.
Be visual, find your dream in full-colour pictures
You know exactly what it looks like in your head, now go and find it! I mean find the real-life pictures and look at it. Build a storyboard and stick it up where you can see it, or build a Pinterest board and look at it every now and again. It will be a wonderful reminder and there are few moments as inspiring as visual reminders of what we love.
Design a plan – like a pirate!
Everything needs to start somewhere. Take the first small steps. Find the first task, that one thing that gets the ball rolling. The biggest of dreams start in the same way. Why not get a big roll of brown paper, find a secluded, quiet spot and start writing down your goals, figuring out what needs to happen first and then break it down from there? Like a pirate finding the treasure, you map your path towards your dream! Doodle all over it and revisit as often as you can.
Find a mentor or cheerleader
Finding someone who has done something similar to your dream is like striking gold! They will have plenty of advice, real lessons and possibly an insane amount of motivation. Ask for insight and ask for help. Most people (and I think from all spheres of life!) are interested in helping others reach their goals and dreams. Similarly, a cheerleader – someone close to you who reminds you of your dream, helps with making it a reality or just believing in you and keeping you accountable, is invaluable! Find those people, it can make all the difference.
I had a wild dream once! A crazy, impossible one. It took me more than three years to get there. Next week I will share a bit more on my dream, what I did and how it all worked out in the end.
Chase your dream and make it real. It is not as impossible as you think and you will build memories to lock away in your heart forever, and no money in the world lasts as long as super special memories!
It is never too late!
Lots of love.
Ons spandeer meer tyd aan verskonings om nie ons drome na te volg nie as om planne te beraam om ons drome n realiteit te maak.
Dankie vir die inspirasie en sien uit om my droom n werklikheid te maak.
